Dr. Jaeger's research focuses on understanding information processing in the cerebellum and basal ganglia, two structures that are implicated in motor control.  The studies in the Jaeger lab use electrophysiological methods both in brain slices and in vivo in conjunction with computer simulations of biophysically realistic neurons to better understand synaptic integration in basal ganglia and cerebellar networks.  A specific focus in the lab has been the study of inhibitory control of neural spiking.  Another focus is to better understand the transmission of pathological activity patterns in Parkinson's disease.
